Climate change

Climate change refers to long-term shifts in temperatures and weather patterns. This has happened naturally since the beginning of time.

Through the burning of fossil fuels and industrial farming, human activity is causing the climate to change in an unnatural manner.

This climate change is increasing the frequency and intensity of extreme flooding events in the UK and Europe.

This will be challenging for Canvey Island, but by educating yourself and your community about flooding and why they occur, your ability to prepare for, respond to and recover from these increasing events will be increased.
