Dealing with difficult situations
If you have difficulty coming to an agreement with someone:
- Assess and communicate
- Establish aim/ desired outcome
- Consult and brainstorm solutions
- Plan and agree
- Provide resources
If you experience someone displaying unpleasant behaviour at an event:
- Explain the effect of the behaviour or action - encouraging self-regulation
- Ask them to stop based on the policies of the event / event venue - encouraging them to follow regulations
- Explain that the next stage is to see them leave the task or event - punitive approach
- Consult with other leaders / support - joint approach
